Words that express concrete concepts are processed more quickly and correctly than words express abstract concepts. This phenomenon is called concrete effect. Although concrete effect has found in many researches, discussions exist in the explanation of the cause of this phenomenon. Dual-encoding theory can't explain concrete effect completely, some researchers has proposed that using context validity model to revise dual-encoding theory will be more convincing. The influence of meaning context on concrete effect has been verified, whether concrete effect can be weaken or disappear in emotion context? What is the influence of emotion context on concrete effect? Individual differences exist in information organization and processing. This research offers emotion context for target words to examine the concrete effect of double Chinese characters and verify the prediction of dual-encoding. First using EFT test to choose subjects of field-dependent and field -independent , then they will engage in brain electrical experiment. Using emotional pictures to offer emotion context for subjects, then asking subjects the following word is positive or negative. The results show that, in 100-200 ms, with in emotion context consistent with target word condition there is no significant difference in erp ,but in emotion context inconsistent in target words, there is significant difference in erp what is induced by concrete words and abstract words . in 320-420ms. The result show that field-dependent subjedts, with in emotion context consistent with target word condition there is no significant difference in erp ,but in emotion context inconsistent in target words, there is significant difference in erp what is induced by concrete words and abstract words .But for field-independent subjedts there is significant difference in erp ,either with in emotion context consistent with target word condition or with in emotion context inconsistent with target word condition This experiment examines developed dual-encoding theory and the influence of emotion context on concrete effect, provide enlightenment for future research on emotion and concrete effect.
