America, Canada, Singapore and many other countries have conducted bilingual education for years, but the goals and models of bilingual education in each country are different. The immersion model originating in Canada is the most successful and popular one in the world.The rapid development of modern science and technology has narrowed the gap between nations. More and more importance has been attached to the master of English. Foreign language/Chinese bilingual education has made rapid progress in fields of higher education and elementary education. The experimentation of early immersion bilingual education program at kindergartens emerged as the times required.In this dissertation, the efforts were made in theoretical and practical research. The author introduced the definition of conceptions relate to immersion bilingual education, its main types, as well as the status quo of bilingual education at home and abroad, and discussed the theories of bilingual education both physiologically and psychologically. In the part of practical research, one of the kindergartens in Suzhou was taken as a case study testee. Based on the kindergarten's own experimental research, the author analyzed the bilingual education practice and showed the original idea on how to make early immersion bilingual education more effectively. The author holds that bilingual education can be an effective way to promote the language learning, though there exist a number of actual problems. Bilingual education is a system which relies on the economy development, and will come into being only when support from experts, children's families and government is available. Its development depends on construction of curriculum setting, staff development and bilingual education evaluation system, and improvement on teaching and skill in managing.
