There have existed two turns happening to hermeneutics in philosopy. The first turn is concerned with the transferrance of partial hermeneutics to general hermeneutics, which has upgraded the understanding of the interpreted content into the comprehension of writer's intention. The latter turn is related with transferrance of epistemology to ontology, contributing to hermeneutics functioning as indicating the way human beings exist and interpreting the existing world texts reveal.Ricoeur, in this phase, disagrees with Gadamer on the ignorance of methodology in the traditional hermeneutics, which urges him to seek the comprehensive hermeneutics comprising epistemology, methodology and ontology. Based upon the above narration, this thesis, by means of studying Ricoeur's animadversion and innovation of phenomenology, aims for the presentation of his trying to intergrate the traditional methodology with the modern ontology. What follows next is the part of explaining his practice in hermeneutics and bridging the gap among methodology, epistemology and ontology in terms of hermeneutics. The ending part originaing from the metholodgy of hermeneutics, that is, reinterpreting the text theory and hermeneutics circulation, focuses on the grasp of core of comprehensive hermeneutics; furthermore, it introjects Schleiermacher, Gadamer, and Heidegger, which paves the way for the comprehensive hermeneutics richer in meaning.
