Alice walker is an outstanding contemporary black American woman writer. Her works have been very influential because of their distinct and strong black female consciousness. The proposal of"womanism"represents the maturation of her black female consciousness, which is embodied both in the ideology and in the art of her writings. The characteristics of Walker's literary writings lie in her devoted black female consciousness and the related literary mode of expression. This thesis mainly discusses the embodiment of this consciousness in the art of her writings. Based on this perspective, the author of the thesis firstly sums up Walker's black female consciousness into seven items, and then uses feminist narratology, structuralist narratology, combined with traditional black literary theories, to analyze Walker's three novels written at different periods of time from two aspects: narrative techniques and language strategies. In this way, the thesis probes into the question as to how Walker embodies the black female consciousness in her works through the choice of artistic techniques.With the maturation and perfection of Walker's black female consciousness, she constantly explores and tries new artistic techniques in her works. Meanwhile, her writings are always rooted in the traditional culture of the American Blacks. Therefore, her works embody particular artistic values and aesthetic values. With particular ideological meanings and a distinct artistic style, Walker has become an important writer not to be ignored in the history of contemporary American literature.
