Circus, which people are familiar with and love so much before, now are faced with threats from many new kinds of entertainments and media. However, the emergence of Cirque du Soleil gives circus performance a new life. This paper shows, from the perspective of character modeling, how Cirque du Soleil leads circus industry going out of the traditional performance form, and created a greater development room for circus industry. According to the change of performance form, character model designer blends characteristics such as dramatic, motif, narrative and stage properties into the new character modeling, and gives greater entertainment meaning to the new character modeling. And the traditional circus character modeling can't afford all this. In consideration of the greater information space in which the modern audience is, its visual perception is far beyond what the traditional circus can give. So, only more form-related modeling and the whole integration of character modeling and stage space can become the way and direction by which to get the audience's acceptance. As the designing method is concerned, cultural interconnection and scientific and technological developments are the source by which modeling designer get his design and bring it into realization.Character model design has no everlasting principles. Even the present widely-noted and praised modeling mode has to be faced with the situation in which it would be superseded in future by the newer one. Attention and understanding given to the modeling must be synchronized with human background. Art culture come not only from designed product itself, but more from the abstraction of the vision-rich life, and only in this way, one can achieve the real human design.
