The famous piano concerto in c minor (kv.491) is one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's most representative works. He composed this concerto when he reached his most productive period in Vienna. Most of Mozart's concertos are in major, Concerto in c minor (kv.491) shows us an unfamiliar style with strong character.This paper, which consists of three parts, tries to analyze the writing and performance characteristics based on the epistemological method with rational and perceptual knowledge. The purpose is to explore the keynote spirit of this concerto, and to help the performers carry out the intention of this work. Meanwhile, this paper attempts to provide some relative resources for performers and to enrich people's understanding of Mozart's concertos in Minor.The first chapter explores the reason of this concerto's special characteristics by investigating Mozart's mature personality which influenced his composing style and the background information of this concerto.The second chapter analyzes the composing characteristics of the structure, harmony, mode, key and orchestration of this concerto.The last chapter gives answers to some questions about different editions such as scores and cadenzas. Finally, this paper makes a conclusion on how to perform this concerto from the performer's perspective.
