Feng Zikai translated The Symbol of Depression, written by Kuriyagawahakuson, a famous writer of literary theory in the time of Taisyo in Japan, agreed with Kuriyagawahakuson's idea that"literature and art are the symbol of depression", said that his articles were exactly"the symbol of dual nature depression". However, how much had Kuriyagawahakuson's literary viewpoints influenced Feng Zikai's literary creation in his early stage? This question was seldom explored before, I'd like to reveal the similarities and differences in their literary viewpoints, and to show Feng Zikai's unique literary outlook on life through comparing their literary viewpoints. The first chapter"Literature and Art are the Symbol of Depression". This chapter states that it's"bitters of life"said by Kuriyagawahakuson that evoked Feng Zikai's sympathy and there was evident Kuriyagawahakuson's stamp in Feng Zikai's explanations of"bitters of life". They identified with each other in the function of"depression"to literary creation and the function of arts to people's spiritual freedom. However, Feng Zikai's religious belief and the nurture of Chinese traditional culture made him have a kind of religious feelings and Confucian cultural care in his comprehension of"depression". Furthermore, different cultural backgrounds and life experiences made them generate different views on"literature and art and morals". The second chapter"Artistic Life". It is acknowledged that both Feng Zikai and Kuriyagawahakuson valued the importance of character and subjectivity to literary creation, and the relation between arts and life, and they made efforts in seeking the balance between the two. However, Kuriyagawahakuson stressed people's spiritual world, pursuing man's spiritual freedom and character liberation, while Feng Zikai paid more attention to the value of individual life and humane care and love. The third chapter"Walk out of the Ivory Tower". Kuriyagawahakuson emphasized that an artist should walk out of the ivory tower .Embedded in the nationwide miserable period, Feng Zikai walked out of the "ivory tower"and into people's life. Kuriyagawahakuson behaved very sarcastic in the aspect of social criticism and civilization criticism, while Feng Zikai put more energy in the theme of humanistic care and feelings.Undoubtedly, Kuriyagawahakuson's literary viewpoints played an important role in the development of Feng Zikai's literary viewpoints. However, Feng Zikai found his own way in literary creation. Unique personality and humanely religious feelings constituted his arts and life. There always stand deep humane care and love in his literary creation, which is quite different from Kuriyagawahakuson. Compared with Kuriyagawahakuson's pursuit in the character extension while ignoring the value of individual life, and his indifference to the disaster brought by wars, Feng Zikai definitely surpassed Kuriyagawahakuson.
