Category learning and category use are crucial aspects of category science. Many experiments have proved that there is a strong relationship between category learning and category use. Acquired category knowledge affects category use, category use also affects acquiring of new category knowledge. Much prior work has examined how the learning of category affects category use. Recently, with the development of category science, researchers have paid more attention on how category use affects the result of category learning.The current study includes two experiments. Using interleaved classification paradigm, explored the effect of category use to category learning in classification and inference. Experiment 1 used classification paradigm, category using and learning in the same time. To examine how category use and the frequency of presentation affect the result of category learning by classification. Experiment 2 used inference paradigm, category using and learning in the same time. To examine how category use and the number of matched feature affect the result of category learning by inference.The final results showed that:①In category learning by classification, category use affects the category learning result.②The frequency of presentation affects the result of category learning by classification.③In category learning by inference, category use affects the category learning result.④Matched feature affect the result of category learning by inference.
