Gaomi Shunxing Qi Ji "investigation And Research Of The New Year Workshop

Established in the Qing Dynasty and passed down for four generations, Shunxing Qiji is a representative workshop producing wood engraving pictures with delicate craftsmanship in Gaomi,Shandong.With the development of the commodity economy,the Chinese folk New Year painting takes a battering.As a result,fewer craftsmen are willing to engage in the wood painting.According to the field study by the author of this paper,there are only a couple of workshops in Gaomi City able to produce wood engraving pictures,among which Shunxing Qiji is one such shop in the town of Xiazhuang.The paper focuses on the history and inheritance of Shunxing Qiji,its works in content and style,and the artifact production process.As for analysis on the works in content and style,it includes:first,the contents of Gaomi wood engraving paintings;second,representative works of Shunxing Qiji;third,the inherited traits in New Year painting of Shunxing Qiji from that of Yanliuqing; and fourth,comparison between New Year painting of Shunxing Qiji and that of Yangjiabu.With respect to the production process of Shunxing Qiji New Year painting,the paper makes a detailed description of printing tools,printing papers and the printing process.In addition,this paper also states how to preserve and protect the folk New Year painting and support New Year painting craftsmen.It is hoped that the paper,dedicated to the minute recording and description of Shunxing Qiji New Year painting,can make some contributions to the future study on the folk New Year painting.
