"Glottic moderate feeling"in vocality singing is a highly standard singing skill of traditional Italian bel canto, which as well as"opening the throat"and"singing on the breath"are all regarded as precondition-prerequisite to acquire nice sound. In the whole movement of singing phonation, throat, pharynx and glottic state stand in the centre area. The glottic state has a direct impact on other states in the singing movement. As early as 19th century the famous vocality educationist Garc-a had made some important researches on the glottic in singing, whose theory became the important theoretic foundation for later generations to study glottic state. It has already been more than one hundred years since the introduction of bel canto. Unfortunately people did not have enough cognition about glottic state in singing yet, which contributed to the complicated situation of a variety of sayings and ambiguous definitions in the teaching of vocality and had a negative effect on the progress and the rate of success of the teaching of vocality in our country.Based on this condition, this article, beginning with the historical fact, gives a brief elaboration on the historical background and origin of"glottic moderate feeling". Besides, by using the related knowledge of physiology, anatomy, it deeply analyses the theoretic truth of"Glottic moderate feeling"in vocality singing:"glottic moderate feeling"is a kilter when glottic moves passively under the impact of exhaling breath. The exhaling breath must be in appropriate proportion to the enclosed sitution of the sound cord to make this kitler moderate. Only in appropriate proportion the exhaling sound can be keynote-pure, overnote- abundant and tone-bright. When we are singing, our experience about the moderate feeling of glottic state is:1 the core of throat has breath but no power; 2 the throat around and the chin are very slack without any feelings; 3 the tone is bright and pleasant. At the premise of emphasizing the need of the"glottic moderate feeling"skill, this essay puts forward some effective practicing methods at the end to help those vocality learners master this highly standard singing skill more quickly and better.The most distinctive features of this article are its being historical and scientific. By using the related scientific knowledge of singing, it deeply analyses the theoretic truth of"glottic moderate feeling", and sets forth some feasible practicing methods. At the end of the article it expounds some inspiration from the concept of"glottic moderate feeling"to vocality teaching nowadays. I sincerely hope that my effort may be of some help and enspiration on the present research of the theory of vocality, and provide theoretical reference for improving the present teaching of vocality.
