The term"Rubato" is defined as an expressive rhythm or changes in tempo. With many related literatures being investigated, the writer finds that all researches on Rubato are confined to the simple identifying of Rubato, and some perceptual knowledges based on that as well, making incomplete both of the researches and the analysis related to its musical theory, which enable the researches on Rubato to be more scientific and more systematical. The writer takes Rubato as the targeted object, mainly applying the following theories, including musical analysis, musical performing, musical historiography, musical aesthetics, phonetics and something like to carry out researches and give an in-depth analysis from such three fronts as melody, rhythm, phonetic features in vocal music. In doing so, the writer concludes Rubato, as a flexible elements in the rhythm-organizing structure, is mainly used to bring out the balanced proportion of the musical works and finally to keep the balance of the musical development, through filling up the missing parts of rhythm-organizing structures, on the basis of the logical dividing of the time on the musical part. As for the explorations on the rhythm of Rubato, the writer concludes seven kinds of factors contributing to the rhythm of Rubato, and based on this, writer goes further to make combination , classification and sum-up to these factors, in hope of setting certain tone for the vocal works and further explaining the repeated musical part or intensifying some kind of expressive effect. All these aim at serving to the musical structure and expressive force, at displaying the individual's singing style better,and at bringing out the charm of the performing art.
