Stuart Hall is the top academic leader of Cultural Studies and is also famous for his contributions that he made to the cultural studies in Britain.He made a unique methodology - articulation theory, which is mainly absorbed Althusser, Gramsci and Laclau's cultural theory and research methods , and he is trying to go beyond and to solve the plight of cultural studies paradigm.Hall has formed his unique concept of cultural criticism - the practical hegemony articulation theory by researching the issues of the mass media and the cultural identity critically. It is the most important characteristics in Hall's cultural criticism that is objection to him in any kind of extremism theory and also insistence on the theorizing, which brings a new research method and research direction on the cultural studies .To some extent his encoding / decoding theory has been beyond of the Frankfurt School.The study on the cultural identity issue has reversed the dominance of the modern identity of the culture, which presents a more strong spirit of post-modernism.However, Hall's articulation theory based on "practice" has some kind of limitation, which takes on insistence about the theorizing which may leadin to the "practice" duliting.in addition, he's encoding / decoding theory is not completely out of custom which is the excess of insistence on text .
