Shandong merchants'culture is a kind of business culture integration of commodity economy and Qilu culture (culture in ancient Shandong), and is a necessary part of Qilu culture. With the development of Shandong economy, the academic circles more and more pay attention to the research on the history and culture of Shandong business. In this thesis, on the basis of the current research results and the collection and analysis of massive information, such as Shandong Province Difangzhi work, cultural and historical data of the CPPCC, we expound the origination, growth, business philosophies and profile of Shandong merchants'culture, and further point out the core values of the culture, finally, elaborate the development and surpass of Shandong merchants'culture in new era by the case of Haier culture.The main structure of this thesis is organized as follows:Preface briefly introduces the intention, present situation and questions in research, methodology and innovations of this thesis.Chapter One approaches the origination of Shandong merchants and the development of Shandong merchants'culture. Through the research on historical documents, we believe Zi Gong and Fan Li are the two forerunners of Shandong merchants, and we summarize the features of their businesses, cultural characteristics as well as individual charisma by analyzing the course of business and their behaviors. Accompanying with the development of commodity economy, the growth of Shandong merchants'culture is divided into three parts: before the Western Zhou Dynasty, from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, after the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The whole formation of Shandong merchants'culture is also presented in this thesis.Chapter Two discusses the business philosophies of Shandong merchants and the overall features of Shandong merchants'culture. The business philosophies involves in establishment of regimen, quality first, power of advertisement and customer first service philosophy,and so on. According to the business philosophies, we further propose the overall features of Shandong merchants'culture by the combination of theory and cases such as Rufuxiang, Yutang Pickles, Dongya Company and Changyu Pioneer Wine, which are hard culture with thrifty and pragmatic features, justice and profit culture with the balance outside and inside, officialdom culture.Chapter Three further discusses the core values of Shandong merchants'culture from the aspects of benevolence, righteousness, ceremony,wisdom and faithfulness. On the basis of massive historical data, we intuitively reveal the core values of Shandong merchants'culture, which are as follows: benevolence for family and employees, righteousness for gentleman, nation and public welfare, wisdom with strategies and emphasis on education, faithfulness with genuine goods at a fair price and customer first service philosophy.Chapter Four analyzes Haier culture from the aspects of service, quality, innovation, talent and management, emphasizes the development and surpass of Shandong merchants'culture in new era, and further point out the characteristics of new Shandong merchants'culture since the reform and opening up in 1978.
