Context in communication plays an important role, affects the generation and understanding of discourse. The traditional context study emphasizes the role of the outside world but neglects the role of the inner world of people in communication. Along with the development of cognitive science, the emergence of cognitive linguistics, Sperber and Wilson, from a cognitive perspective, study the context and put forward a concept of context different from the traditional one, that is cognitive context. In this paper, against the theoretical background of Sperber and Wilson's Relevance Theory, we are focusing on the role of cognitive context in the translation process. In the translation process, translator selects the appropriate expression which can convey the original author's intentions and meet the asked readers'cognition according to the original readers and asked readers'cognitive context, and its essence is the conversion of cognitive context. Only if a translator overcomes the difference of cognitive contexts, actively communicates and makes up the differences of language and culture of the two aspects, can he avoid information transmission barriers and get the best translation.
