This article takes four of the most representative authors'works which are written by the British novelist of the eighteenth century to compare and analyze, in order to clarify the transmutation of the eighteenth century'British novels and its significant influence to the development of European literature. This article will reappraise the unique position of Richardson who is in the pivotal status at the history of the eighteenth century's British novels'development. Thus, we can establish the important role and the unique value of Richardson in the transmutation of the British novels in the eighteenth century. Firstly, this article will analyze the social context of that time. Furthermore, this article will analyze the similarities and differences and the transmutation of style, producing practice and artistic trait, in order to present the panorama of the eighteenth century's British novels'development.
