| Since May 4th, Chinese has always been stubbornly thought that Confucianism provided the theoretical basis for the rule of feudal emperors and Confucian is an accomplice of feudal despotism. These conclusions are too hasty. This article selects the scholars (mainly to Confucian scholars) who were from the Warring States to the Qin and Han Dynasties as the research object, intends to base on collation and analysis of historical data to systematically expound the changes and reasons of the Confucian scholars in these two periods, tries to sort out the changes of Confucian scholars in political status, survival situation, personality spirit and so on while the background of the times changes, further analysis the reasons, explores the potential interaction of Tao and Power , and explores their contradictions and helplessness of the spiritual world under the combined effect of the ideal and the reality, to use for today reference.Particularly, the article is divided into the following five components:Preface: The origin and the study status quo of the issue, to explain and define the scope of some concepts involved in the text. The study of academic to Confucian scholars mostly concentrated in a certain period or on a number of individuals, lacking of a study of a long time and Confucian scholar groups. The text intends to carry out new exploration on the issue.Chapter one: The Confucian scholars of the Warring States Period. The article studies in three areas from the Confucian way, Confucian treatment, and the spirit of Confusion, believes that the Confusions' self-esteem, self-confidence, freedom, showing disdain for the nobility, and overlooking the word in the Warring States Period resulted from the background of times of chaotic world and man travelling in charge.Chapter two: Confusions in the Qin Dynasty. A world series was the new situation which appeared at the time, the Confucian scholar positively participated in the political construction of the new dynasty in this new situation. The historical tradition and the realistic situation caused the Qin Dynasty to persist the legalist path inevitably, but Confucian scholars' actions were incompatible with the rule of law of the Qin Dynasty, suffered the attack repeatedly. Finally, partial Confucian scholars were forced to cooperate with the farmers and the aristocrats to resist Qin Dynasty.Chapter three: Han Dynasty world and the Confucian scholars. Following the change of the social situation, "Doing Nothing" thinking completed its historic mission, Confucianism has reached highest knowledge, become a new ruling ideology. Taking this as the turning point, a large number of Confucian scholars have stepped onto the political arena. While they harvested the official position and salary, they also harvested the royal power perverse and violent, the fate of theirs tools was already irreversible. The article has also analyzed the political experience of the different type Confucian scholar community, thought that both the accidental honor and disgrace has the inevitability.Chapter four: Reason for change. Objectively speaking, the centralization tendency which started from the Warring States moving towards the despotic monarchy of the Qin and Han Dynasty is the historical necessity. In this inevitable trend, whether Confucian or other scholars was unable not to change. Subjectively speaking, human nature of the pursuit of wealth, the instinct of making use of profit and avoiding loss, as well as the difference between poverty and rich, and the hardship or dangers of the official career, which all urged the scholars to take place conscious or unconscious changes.Conclusion: The influence of the alienation and the distortion of despotic authority to human spread all of the people at that time. Under the high pressure of political power, human nature of making use of profit and avoiding loss revealed with nothing left. The state of scholars losing character and nobody expressing an opinion was not a crime of the Confucianism. Under a situation that Chinese royal power controlled all, the Confucian scholars were very difficult to stand upright the free, democratic, independent backbone. |
