"Spanish Suite" is one of the masterpieces of Isaac Albeniz, the nineteen-century founder of the nationalist Spanish music. The Suite is composed of eight independent songs, all of which are infused with the regional characteristics of Spain and named after different regions of Spain. In the Suite, while giving a free rein to his creative flair, Albeniz also made a point of incorporating elements of the Spanish music, such as the profuse use of Phrygian mode, the delicate intricate rhythms, and guitar idioms. Never will anyone who listens to his music ever mistaken it for any music with a different regional flavor. In addition, an In-depth analysis of the Suite and the related materials available reveals that "Spanish Suite" manifests a rigorous structure typical of the west. In the eight songs, Albeniz repeated and reproduced practices of musical development. These practices were followed not only in the development of the primary musical structure, but also in secondary structure and musical idea structure, so that each song has an element of repetition and reproduction. As a result, the theme is rendered prominent, and the structure logical. Meanwhile, Albeniz's "Spanish Suite" exhibits a structural regularity, which was rather rare during the Romantic Period. In this paper the author studies Albeniz's "Spanish Suite" in great detail, presents an elaborate analysis of its musical form, and thereby confirms Albeniz's preferences for the Spanish musical elements, and the skilful use of repetition and reproduction techniques in his musical development.
