Salman Rushdie is the key role of the post-colonial writers in the 20th century Critics consider that he is one of the "three heroes of British immigrant writers" together with Vidiadhar Surajprassad Naipaul and Kazuo Ishiguro.As a writer who has distinctive artistic style, Rushdie is known as "the most important person of the Magic realism writers in the 20th century " because of his great achievement in Magic realism writing. The main content of this article is to analyse the representation of Magic realism in some of Rushdie's novles and why Rushdie choose Magic realism as his writing strategy.In chapter one from the background of the third world's Magic realism writering we discuss the natural relation between Magic realism and postcolonial writing,Salman Rushdie's creative concept, simply disscuss the similarity and difference between Rushdie and Garcia marquez.In chapter two we analyse the representation of Magic realism in Rushdie's novles from four aspects.They are the multiple time mode,unnatural display of character and plot,the using of mythology and allusion real and unreal content. In chapter three we discuss why Rushdie tends to choose magic realism to write novels considering his cultural background and ideas,including his India background,western world ideas and also his conceptions of history and reality.
