English Abstract:On the research of classical art, the contemporary westerners failed to do well, and neither did the modern ones. For us, who live in the east of the world, the braveness, confidence, determination, attention should be shown to study the means of perception and expression, which are beyond our visual foundation. If we literally thought the works produced by the previous Chinese realistic artists were the examples of western classical art, we will never make progress by following them. The misunderstanding that seems unlikely existing among the intelligent, really fettered the development of art, and there is some one still embracing this misunderstanding. The right or only way to study classical art is that we should observe the European native classical art regarded as the valuable textbook, and acquire the direct knowledge, as an artist featuring the intellect, or a student enthusiastic in art. However, the possibilities of misunderstanding still risking the process of cognition of classical spirit and form. So, a relatively scientific researching method should be constructed to orientate us.After a series of targeted reading, learning, inductive reasoning and information collating, I completed this thesis. I tried to figure out the developing history of classical art, tried to sum up the form of the paintings representing the pure and limited classical art's features in a narrow sense, which is the art during The High Renaissance, tried to found out the forming conditions and causes of this form and the development and evolution of it from the age of Renaissance to the present, and tried to specify the significance and the way that the classical form can exist and develop in the contemporary context of China. In other words, it is my personal comprehension and recommendation for the students who wander how to understand and apply this painting form.I expect this thesis could be comprehensive and specific, and it could deepen the classical art research to a larger degree than before, and combine the theory with the practice closely to promote each other. In addition to introduction and conclusion, this thesis consists of five parts. The first part introduces the sub-major and minor concepts of "classical" in the different art historical periods, in order to make the readers could have a preliminary but relatively clear understanding of "classical" in the narrow and broad sense, preparing for the following parts. I will focus on tracing the historical sources of classical painting forms-the artistic ones of ancient Greece and Rome in the second part. In the third part, the core of this thesis, I will elaborate the diversification of the painting form from early to high Renaissance period, and the final establishment of painting system, including not only the essential coherence of the painting expressions, but also the system of visual perception, which is a complement to this art form. In the next part I will analyze the phenomenon arising from the continued development of the classical painting form, so as to obtain the relatively efficient approaches to practice. The last part is about the experience from my own study on classical art. In the part of conclusion, the irreplaceable value of classical art for the students will be summarized, which is typical of the rational painting.I hope that I could make modest contribution to the research of Western Classical Painting besides my study, through composing and writing this thesis.
