Objective:In this study, students explore the characteristics of self-evaluation as a starting point, to provide an empirical basis for self-evaluation study of undergraduate, and to provide a theoretical basis for mental health education of undergraduate. Methods:On the base of analysis of the existing literature and questionnaire surveys and interviews, I have constructed the self-evaluation scale, and the formal investigation was conducted on a sample of 464 students from 8 universities in Shanxi, Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Hubei and Guangdong. By the factor analysis of the data, we explore the inscape of undergraduate'self-evaluation scale, and probe into the developmental characteristic of the undergraduate'self-evaluation.Results:(1)preliminary measurement results:By Item analysis, delete the items in all 29 that index of discrimination are less than 0.2; By EFA, with 0.3 as the dividing value of factor loading, delete 6 items, and get 9 factors and 104 items, and the total contribution is 41.384%; By Clustering analysis, We get 11 sorts, merging some similar factors, deleting several separate items, and get 7 sorts and 89 items; By Bivariate correlation analysis for the 7 factors of the scale, delete the items in all 6 which have high correlation and statistical significance, and that have poor representation, and We get 83 items. Reliability index:homogeneous reliability among the factors is 0.453-0.845, and the reliability of the scale is 0.931; split-half reliability among the factors is 0.423-0.817, and the reliability of the scale is 0.882; retest reliability among the factors is 0.512-0.826, and the reliability of the scale is 0.894. It can explain the scale has better reliability. Validity index:the correlation between the factors and the scale is 0.562-0.860, and it can explain that the scale has better structural validity; By the steps of consulting a large number of literature, open questionnaire survey, interviews, pretesting and expert advice, it ensure the good content validity.(2) Formal measurement results:By Item analysis, delete the items in all 3 that index of discrimination are less than 0.2; By EFA, with 0.3 as the dividing value of factor loading, delete 2 items, and get 7 factors and 78 items, and the total contribution is 49.048%; By CFA, structure model of the scale has better fitting degree, (x2/df=2.18, CFI=0.868, RMSEA=0.059). Reliability index:homogeneous reliability among the factors is 0.519-0.867, and the reliability of the scale is 0.928; split-half reliability among the factors is 0.573-0.821, and the reliability of the scale is 0.741; retest reliability among the factors is 0.612-0.848, and the reliability of the scale is 0.825. It can explain the scale has good reliability. Validity index:the correlation between the factors and the scale is 0.604-0.855, and it has got significant level. it can explain that the scale has better structural validity; one criterion, the correlation between GSES and the scale is 0.397-0.806; the other criterion, the correlation between SAQ and the scale is 0.291-0.537(except the factor 7 is-0.157), and it has got significant level. it can explain that the scale has good criterion related validity.Conclusions:(1) The self-evaluation scale for undergraduate includes 7 factors which are psychological self, self-acceptance, self-identity, moral self, physical self, behavior and negative emotions.(2) The self-evaluation scale for undergraduate has satisfying reliability and validity.(3) There is significant difference between grades in undergraduate's self-evaluation, and the whole development trend is freshman>junior> sophomore>senior, and it takes on decline polyline in its development.(4)There is significant difference between grades, major, age, the class of school, family economic conditions, academic records and occupying student's work or not.(5)There isn't significant difference between gender, only child or not and residence.
