As one of the West painting systems, the still life painting is a static object as the object of study and performance of a painting art form.Still life in Italy is called natura morta(Meaning non-living nature. In the mid 18th century,it was relative to the elegant drawing type natura vivente(meaning dynamic nature).In the early Vasari age,art history appeared in the literature to describe a variety of"natural objects, animals, tools, vases, landscape, vegetation"to the group.The term was translated into other names in other places,such as in the Netherlands stilleven, while respectively, in Germany and Britain, it was translated into stilleben and still life.From the perspective of traditional Western art,early still life paintings only were regarded as a branch of painting,which did not receive the same treatment as other subjects,as they are today.It was only considered the description of non-living things,and out of line with noble thinking requirements then.With the development of the European Renaissance,Humanism that confirms earthly happiness made people start to pay attention to and present people's lives and living environment.Then still life paintings became resurgence as an independent subject in the 17th century,thus becoming a major style of Western painting formally.Transforming from the history of painting, figure paintings in the background to an independent painting style,still life paintings was considered to be started from Dutch Painting of the 17 century.Dutch still life paintings included and metaphored a lot of scenes at the post-war economic prosperity,people's rich and peaceful living conditions,of course, there also being religious beliefs and exhort future generations.From the analysis of the seventeenth century Dutch works of the artist painting,the essay want to research the real map contained in the still life.This paper,while elaborated the history of still life painting,is mainly taking the works of the Dutch writer's representative still life paintings for example to analyze still life contained in the map of reality.
