As one of the "new four German cinema luminaries", the famous director, Werner Herzog shoots not only feature films, but also a huge number of documentaries. This paper describes, reads and compares the creation of Werner Herzog and his representatives of different periods, " Little Dieter Needs to Fly ", " Fata Morgana ", " Land of Silence and Darkness ", aiming to tap out the main idea and symbol in his documentaries - "strong", "roaming in the wonderland", "desperate and lonely rebels". This Paper also sums up the features of his documentaries, which are different from the traditional art. There is a detailed analysis of his creation dealing with: "fiction" and "the recurrent scene". From the screen, sound and editing, this paper analyses the characteristic - " style of representation " in Herzog's documentary films, explains his unique truth- " ecstatic truth", which departures from the "real movie" and the "accountants real", interprets the difference between the "facts" and "truth", and explicates the impact of the "ecstatic truth" on his movies.
