This paper focuses on "how politics and power influence the construction and use of Yongning Temple in Luoyang". Integrating previous research results with the literature and archaeological resource, this paper firstly makes a comparative analysis on Yongning Temple in Luoyang and other temples since Han and Wei Dynasty in terms of the temple ritual system and the palace's buildings. According to the analysis, it attempts in the material level to solve the problem of the origin and development issues of the architectural form.which includes the layout, wall, tower, temple and gate. On this basis, the author analys different factors influnced by politics and power such as the site selection of the temple, the establishing design and the functional transformation of the temple and tower, and then fully reveals that the entire temple is how to constructed and used under the influnce of the country's politics and personal power. After destroyed by fire, the material form of the temple building disappeared, but the cultural patterns of the Yongning Temple was constantly in a way of recalling and retailing to feel and understand. Due to this, Yongning Temple become "monuments" bearing the information of the late Northern Wei. Finally the author analyses the narrative way of historical literature and religion books to extend writing problems of the history of the Yongning Temple.The significance of this research mainly includes the following three aspects: First, this paper as a case study is exploringly meaningful with the study of how politics and power being reflected and projected onto a religious architecture. Second, at the material level, in the case of Yongning Temple of Northern Wei Dynasty in Luoyang, the paper sorts out the history of temple architectures such as layout, wall, gate and buddha halls and pagodas. Third, at the cultural level, from the perspective of politics and power, the paper provides a new viewing of the Yongning Temple as to their sensitive location, stunning high body mass and pagoda function of changes. At last, the approach of the writing on the history of Yongning Temple is conducive to put forward and carry out some new issues such as the knowledge generation new Yongning.
