Hmong Clothing Visual Cognitive Function

The thesis attempts to analyze the visual cognitive function of Miao people's finery. The visual cognitive function mainly includes three forms:the historical memory function, the aesthetic cognitive function, and the ethical discriminating function.The discussion based on the theory of Art Anthropology and the actual fieldworks. The thesis mainly focuses on two aspects:one is the cultural situation and functional characters of Miao people's finery; the other is the difference of Miao finery's visual cognitive effect happens between Miao people and the cultural others, which reflect the modernistic impact to the folk finery arts. Besides, the thesis explains the influence of the mass media to the visual cognitive function of Miao people's finery.The thesis is composed by five chapters. The preface is an introduction of present research, the background and aim of this thesis. Chapter one to three respectively explores the three forms of the visual cognitive function of Miao people's finery. Chapter four will describe the existence and change of the visual cognitive function of Miao people's finery, by the influence of the mass media.
