Impression management is a behavior that people control information obtained by others and try to influence other's views and behaviors, which is a positive behavior that people beautify themselves and avoid their images to be damaged. It's a high social adaptation performance and a common interpersonal phenomenon. Impression management strategy permeates all aspects of college students'life, and also plays an important role in students'interpersonal relationship.The object of the thesis is college students; the research starting from strategy level and uses many ways to analyze the structural model of impression management strategies, such as literature study, semi-structured interview, questionnaire survey, exploratory factor analysis. And we analyze the significant differences in demographic variables by questionnaire survey; we also discuss the mediating effect of self-efficacy between self-esteem and impression management strategies.The results show that: (1) The impression management strategy model of college students includes six aspects: ingratiation, non-verbal behavior, self-presentation, supplication, explain and apology, rationalization. (2) The scale we have developed has good reliability and validity, which can be used to research the impression management of college students as a suitable tool. (3) The frequency which college students use impression management strategies from high to low is as follows: ingratiation, non-verbal behavior, self-expression, explain and apology, supplication, rationalization. (4) Self-efficacy is the intermediary variable between self-esteem and ingratiation, self-presentation, rationalization. (5) Impression management strategies have significant differences in gender and subject variables, gender is in ingratiation and supplication, subject is in self-presentation.This thesis is helpful for understanding the process mechanism of college students'impression management, as well as helpful for college students to establish and maintain a good interpersonal impression.
