Perhaps being of highlighted regional features, dialect contributes a lot in the scriptwriting of film, based on the angle, this article will mainly study the functions of dialect in home-made movies, particularly expound its aesthetic expression and social life contents reflected, in addition, a global view is given that it includes the significance of dialect phenomenon, its problems and enlightenment.The dissertation consists of five parts, introduction is placed first, and the next are separately aesthetic expression narrated in dialect, social life contents reflected, the significance of dialect phenomenon and its problems and enlightenment, the last is the conclusion.Based on the general recognition about the definition of dialect from the foreign studies, introduction tries to clarify the functions of in by analyzing its definition, this study refers to a wide sphere. Besides, the emergence development and boom of dialect have been made since the 1990s, it also deals with the reason for developing in home-made movies. At last, its present status of dialect phenomenon is also expressed, together with the necessity, significance, aim and unique view.Chapter one is mainly about aesthetic expression of dialect in home-made movies. Firstly, it expounds dialect as sound elements which lead to novelty, alienation and affability and so on, it could develop a special sense of humor, for example, dialect wins the sharp comic effects in some intelligent comic movies.Moreover, from the angle of true and detailed characterization, some moving characters, somebody or nobody, can be vividly portrayed. In the end, it expresses with aesthetic effects made by dialect, among other things, this part is one of the innovations of the article, dialect also has two sides that are ugliness and beauty, and is also found in dialect, the former may indicate a kind of language filled with violence, while the latter may show it with divine nuances.The second chapter presents social life contents reflected by dialect. This part is divided into three parts: first, dialect shows the reality of life. Second, it embodies liberation of the power of discourse and the rise of the local cultural awareness. At last, the cultural temperament embodied in narration. To begin with, this article starts from the functions of dialect in restoring the original ecological aspects of social life discourse, the emergence of dialect in the film highlights the reality of social life, and also reflects the true state in which dialect diffuses into today's social life. Still, the emergence of dialect breaks the "unity of the use of Putonghua," both liberation of the power of discourse and the rise of the local cultural awareness are involved. The last one, it states the different cultural temperament made by dialect, diverse place leads to different cultural temperament, here cultural temperament falls into five categories and some examples are listed to support it. The last two parts are the innovation spot of this paper, which is rarely mentioned before by others.Chapter three refers to the significance of dialect phenomenon and its problems and enlightenment. Firstly, it discusses dialects the significance of dialect in the home-made movie, and this part is further studied from the followings, the documentary aesthetic style, the highlights of artist's personal style and social significance. Secondly, many problems ignored are revealed. Finally, major enlightenment to the present film industry, which includes creation at a small cost, choice of theme-oriented and the balance between art and commerce and so forth, is mentioned.The last part is the conclusion, development trend of dialect in the film in the future is discussed, and the conclusion is that at present, though it has many defects such as regional limitations as well as the disadvantages in mass communication, it actually gives a great impact on the development of Chinese film.
