"Carmen" is the greatest opera by French composer Bizet, and also the final opera of his.The opear is with strong Spanish style. Carmen's arias show how a typical Gypsy girl can be. But it can't be ignored that the opera ends tragical.As Tchaikovsky said:when the last scene comes, I can not hold back my tears. People cheer to torero while Carmen and Don Jose is dying. The final duet is the most tragical part of the opera. To comprehending the character Carmen deeply, the author choose three of many singing editions to do exploratory research.The article can be divided into three chapters:Chapter one compares the novel and the opera, mainly in how these two are different.Chapter two analyzes the three video editions of the final scene, especially discusses their singing disposal and five aspects which are tempo,rhythm,strength,expression and acting.Chapter three concludes and summarizes the findings of the study and theguiding significance in this paper.
