Our Public Crisis Media Management Studies

Press control is a critical part of the treatment of the public crisis. Presently, China is standing at a key point in her economic and social transformation, which features frequent outbreak of public crisis. Various kinds of crisis, from devastating natural disasters to social public crisis, will pose an increasing threat to the development of China in a fairly long period of time. This will test the Chinese government's management as well as crisis control capability. Governments at all level must attach great importance to the treatment and reaction to public crisis. Any decision on crisis control, or prevention, reaction and rebuilding before, in and after the crisis, must be laid on the foundation of the accurate, adequate and timely transmission of information. Inappropriate tactics by the government in crisis control may lead to negative effects in all aspects. For this sake, effective management of media in public crisis will greatly affect the government's proceedings of crisis control and its own reputation.This thesis mainly looks into the Chinese government's reaction and media management tactics in the treatment of public crisis so as to provide references to domestic governments'control of public crisis.
