This thesis consists of three chapters, which systemically states the decision making processes that Britain deal with the security issues of Turkey after World Warâ…¡.Chapter one reviews the development process of security issues of The Republic of Turkey and the attitude of Britain to its security issues before World War II. After establishment, The Republic of Turkey, considering the current situation, gradually builds a harmonious diplomatic relationship with Britain by adjusting the external policy. Meanwhile, Britain, as one of the west state owning important stakes in Middle East, ensures its interest in Middle East by means of the external cooperation with Turkey. In the Chapter, it also analyses the policy of British towards the wartime neutrality of Turkey during World War II. The wartime policy of Britain to Turkey experiences the process from conniving at early period of war to prompt attend the war by raising the Straits Issues as bargaining chips.Chapter two states how Turkey seeks the security guarantees from west state and British corresponding reaction at the early period after World War II. The major changes take place in the security issues of Turkey as the international situation changes after the war. At the time, Britain begins to seek assistance from USA aiming at Turkish security issues, especially the straits issues and military succoring, although Turkey does not explicitly express to expect Britain seeking security guarantee from USAChapter Three expounds the British policy to Turkish Security Issues after the Truman Doctrine came. At the period, Turkey attempts to acquire American security guarantee by British intercession because of American cold manner to Turkey. However, Britain principally fixes Turkish defensive role in Middle East, consequently, accordingly refuses Turkey to join west coalition and reserves opinions for Turkey to join establishing NATO. Yet Britain supports to establish Mediterranean Convention. However, Mediterranean Convention ends up with nothing as U.S.A. refuses to attend. And then it analyses mainly the policy changes of Britain to Turkish security issues after the establishment of NATO, and particularly analyses the British attitude change process from refusing to being forced to accept Turkish attendance in NATO. At the period, due to British strength decline postwar, the establishment of U.S.A. superpower and the attitude changes to the Turkey strategic target of U.S.A, Britain try to retrieve the declining tendency to ensure the execution of Middle East defense program yet fails. Finally, Britain has to agree with Turkish attendance to NATO and admits its completely member of NATO.
