Ethnic medicine is very important to medical service in the developing countries and areas so that it has been a complementary component of the world’s medical system. China is one of the mega-biodiversity countries in the world with rich genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge. Recently, protection issues of traditional knowledge including medical traditional knowledge have become the popular issues in the field of international biodiversity conservation and the focus of some international organizations and forums.Based on the Sunan County Gansu province Yugu of traditional medicine knowledge and the status of the inheritance and protection, this reserch started from four aspects:traditional knowledge of Yugu group, traditional healers of Yugu group, local traditional use of medicinal material and local people’s attitude toward Yugu’s traditional medicine. To analyze and find out the Yugu traditional medicine problems in the development and inheritance and sustainable utilization and put forward ways for protection and inheritance approaches, and provide the reference of knowledge to the local government to establish and perfect the protection of traditional medicine and other traditional policies. It’s also an good example for other minorities’medical heritage, protection and development of traditional knowledge.Based on a multidisciplinary perspective of cultural anthropology and national ecology, This study used data out of collecting literatures, key figures interviews, participant observation, questionnaire and SPSS correlation analysis method, into the country yugur population distribution of Gansu province many times Sunan County fieldwork at most, and results of current study concluded as follows:1. Yugu ethnic group through long-term production and life formed a self-contained traditional knowledge, including traditional yugu and utilization of genetic resources, traditional medicine knowledge, the traditional production technology, the traditional culture and traditional geographical iconic products. This study through the combination of literature and on-the-spot investigation, preliminary sorting and cataloguing 194 the Yugu’s traditional knowledge entries, in order to establish yugu traditional knowledge provided material and document support entry in the database.2. Analyzed Yugu ethnic group at present, traditional medicine doctor’s gender, age, education situation, the potential number of doctors, social role and inheriting traditional way, the influence of religious beliefs, the doctor-patient relationship, knowledge exchange of updates, and other factors. It’s religious faith, language and way of inheritance of internal factors such as limit of Yugu’s medicine affected by the inheritance of traditional knowledge, its social role has not been recognised by country system, and the impact of commodity economy has resulted in the doctor-patient relationship of mutual benefit imbalance is the main external factors of the its inheritance crisis.3. From the medicinal part, efficacy, using method of 43 kinds of Yugu’s traditional medicinal animals and plants of traditional knowledge has carried on and record Analysts the Yugu’s utilization of plant and animal medicine resources for health care uses. Investigation and analysis from the local market on the number of species, medicinal herbs and medicinal herbs sources of medicinal uses of the current local traditional use drug resource type less than before, and the number of certain kinds of drug present growth trend. Think the Yugu’s traditional the way doctors use is not harmful to the local drug resources. Meanwhile, the external factors such as unreasonable development and utilization is a major cause of Yugu’s medical species.4. The survey of 200 local people in a typical local area, and the information characteristics of respondents and the cognition of traditional medicine knowledge SPSS correlation analysis showed the participants’ gender, age, occupation and education level of yugur traditional medicine are the obvious cognitive differences. Among them, male, older people, farmers and herdsmen, the low level of education of the respondents to the recognition of the traditional medicine of the yugu group is higher, and women, younger and non-agricultural herders, level of education is lower awareness.5. Research and analysis of Yugu traditional medical knowledge in the process of protection and inheritance existing problems and the influencing factors are based on the above four aspects and investigation, and combined with local specific circumstances, to put forward countermeasures and suggestions of protection and inheritance yugu traditional knowledge.
