With the rapid development of internet technology, the new media has penetrated into every corner of human society and became an essential part of daily life. New media also plays an increasingly important role in political life with bringing profound influences and great challenges to the parties: limiting the functions of parties, impacting the leadership and organization of parties, weakening the social basis of parties. New media brings about challenges but also the unprecedented development opportunities for political parties. A growing number of political parties have realized the new media’s political function and social influence. And the study of using new media has become an important research of party building. The paper attempts to explore the means and measures that how the different abroad political parties use, manage and control the new media, learn the successful and failure experience of using the new media, summarize the basic law of using the new media, and develop appropriate countermeasures in China’s actual situation for the new media to improve the Chinese Communist Party’s governing capability and leadership.Except the first chapter of introduction, the paper consists of four parts. The second chapter, “the relationship between political parts and new media”, expounds the meaning of new media, the new media’s development in the world and Chinese, and the relationship between party and new media in the political communication process, and analyzes the challenges and opportunities brought about by the new media to political parties; The third chapter, “the successful experience of abroad political parties in the use of new media”, summarizes the beneficial uses and experience of foreign political parties in the use of new media, including the use of new media to strengthen political communication and strengthen the self-construction of the party and effective management of the new media; The fourth chapter, “the failure lessons of foreign political parties in the using of new media”, including the lack of effective management of the new media, ignoring the main role of youth in the new media and contempt for the threats to ideology and regime brought about by new media; The last chapter, “the Chinese Communist Party gets the enlightenments which are taken by the foreign political parties in use of new media”, presents that the Chinese Communist Party should learn from the successful experience and failure lessons of abroad political parties in use of new media, and proposes several enlightenments such as establishing a scientific concept of using new media, strengthening party’s construction with the use of new media, regulating and managing new media with multi-pronged means.
