Utilitarianism and collectivism are views of value respectively occupying important positions in the east and the west. Since 1980s, with the change of our sOcial economic structure, the adjustment of social beneficial relations and the coming of foreign cultures, people?s views of value have tended to be menifold . In the theory and practice of the ideological and political educaticon, the relations between utilitarianism and collectivism get to draw people?s attention and consideration. Some advocates utilitarianism for the sake of the utilitarian characters of markert economy, while the others oppose collectivism, even attempt to substitute it with utililarnmism because they think the market economy is focused on personal benefits and individual characters, but collectivism is a product of the planned economy, which suppresses and denies individualism. Based on fully studying the developing clue of the two morales and their major ideas, the thesis reveals the basic differences between them in view of collectivism?s surpassing utilitarianism, so that the collectivism梠riented point of value will be firmly stuck to in the theory and practice of ideological and political education. The thesis is composed of three parts. The first part follows the history of the two morales, and put emphasis on their main thoughts on the basis of the historical and logical unity. In the second, the thesis analyses the collectivism s surpassiag utilitarianism in detail from such aspects as theoretical basis, utilitarianism?s contents, relations between intention 3 and result and so on. In the third one, the current facts are taken into account when the thesis discusses the objective necessity and significance of the collectivism梠riented point of value in the socialist market econony.
