Modern Urban Structure And Planning Of Recreation Space - Ningbo City

With huge population of 13 billion, after 50 years?development,China has stepped into a rapidly developing period of industrilization and urbanization. Presently the urbanization ratio is more than 30 percent. which means that almost 4 billion population live in urbans. At 2030s, the population that live in urbans will increase to 5 billion. With the continuous expanding of scale and population, the comprehensive functions of urbans should be enhanced furtherly, and the ways of peoples?production and life will be changed remarkably. Thus, improving urbans? econological environment, optimizing vrbans?living and recreation environment, raising urbans?cultural quality, promoting the substantial development of urbans and people, are the main targets of urbans developing, planning and management. Recreation is one of four basic functions of urbans, the social phenomenon born with cities and the impetus of cities developing. Recreation and leisure are the important characteristic and necessary part of modern life, the sembol of a nations?productivity level, the measurement of society civilization. Since May 1, 1995, the government begun to take fiveayeek working system. In 1999, the government increase the common days, and then produce the conceptsolden Week? such as Labour Day ,National Day. People now enjoy more. On one hand, it indicates that the development of economy, improvement of labour productivity and increasement of peoples?leisure time have created conditions for the development of modern recreation ane leisure industry. On the other hand, it challenges the tourism, recreation and leisure of the country, urbatis planning and construction. 慬he increasement of leisure time has resulted in the enhancement of peoples? recreation conciousness and change of leisure style. Morever,most of the urbans in our country cannot meet multi recreation needs of modern recreationers, for they cannot provide recreation space and environment of high standard and quality. So how to make good planning for modern recreation space and environment , how to develop modern receation and leisure industry become a strategic task. Although the urban recreation industry has been developing for more tha~i?0 years in China, the recreation phenomenon and law have not been studied thoroughly. On one hand, the previous urban recreation study has paid more attention to such aspects as the urban tourist image, the urban tourist development models, the tourist visitor marketing and the tourist industry developing practice, putting little emphasis on urban recreation and leisure. On the other hand, the urban planning and construction give the most researches on planning of residence, transportation, commercial and grassland, but the least on urban recreation spatial. It leads to the deficiendy of uman interest?and ind -65 - feeling?in urban planning and unable to make comfortable and pleasant living spatial, in which peple can make active living models. Based on the above reasons, the author try to make deep study on modern urban recreation planning to provide some theories and methods of modern urban recreation planning. Case studied on the Citi of Ningbo, the thoughts, methods, and strategy of urban recreation spatial planning are discussed in the paper.
