Institutional Transition Of Chongqing Structure Adjustment And Growth Mode Transformation

Nowadays, there are two fundamental transitions in China抯 economy: one is the transition in economic system that aims at establishing and improving socialist market economic system; the other is the transition in the mode of economic growth that aims at improving the efficiency of economy and the competitiveness of economy. The above-mentioned transitions are correlated. As a result, it is of great significance for China to implement the two transitions by studying the present situation and absorbing the successful experience of foreign nations. China~ s economic growth is restrained by the imbalance of economic structure. Consequently, the key of the transition of economic growth mode lies in the adjustment and improvement of industrial structure on the basis of technological advances. Today抯 economic growth is increasingly dependant on technological advances as well as the improvement of economic structure. However, since the study on economic growth in China is immature, it is important for us to learn the problems on structural adjustment and economic transition by combining foreign theories and China抯 practice. As the development of China抯 market economy and opening to outside world, rich materials but stricter requirements come out. In market economy, the market mechanism plays a fundamental role in the deployment of resources. So, it is of vital importance for us to learn how to excel the power of market to promote structural adjustment and economic transition. Meanwhile, we must improve our economic competitiveness in facing open economy. This thesis consists of two major parts: theoretical analysis and empirical analysis. The first chapter is theoretical analysis that offers the basis for the study of industrial structural adjustment and the transition of economic growth mode; while the second, third and fourth chapter are empirical analysis that is based on the study over Chongqing抯 economic development. As the development of China抯 market economy, people gradually realize that the structural adjustment in economy is an integral part of the mode of economic growth. Without the transition of economic growth mode and the adjustment of industrial structure, the economy would lag behind. In summary, in this thesis, I analyze the relation between structural adjustment and transition of the mode of economic growth after studying the related theories. On the basis of this analysis, I proceed to carry out the empirical study on Chongqing抯 economy. Finally, I put forward some suggestions on the general objectives and policies on Chongqing抯 structural adjustment and economic transition. Chongqing, an industrial city with many large-sized SOEs that lack efficiency, is the considered a typical example of study. The fundamental goal of structural adjustment and economic transition is the efficient deployment and application of resources and the improvement of economic competitiveness. The problems in Chongqing抯 economy can be attributed to both historical reasons and other systematical reasons. In transition economy, we should promote the structural adjustment by technological and systematical innovation.
