Based on literature review of leadership studies, this study aimed at exploring how development stages of small and medium-sized enterprises influence leadership styles, examine relationships of leadership style, subordinate behavior, superior-subordinate relationship, and job performance, and analyze how organizational support and management level moderates these relationships at work.Two hundred and sixteen employees from more than 20 companies participated in this study. We began with a research interview, several case study, and questionnaire survey. The main conclusions are as follows:1. Leadership style is correlated to the developmental stages of a company at the first and growth stages, there was a strong positive leadership behavior, and weak negative behavior. At the maturity and declining stages, positive leadership behavior decreases, and the negative increases.2. With the development of company, continuous commitment and job satisfaction showed significant differences under different development stages3. There is significant correlation between positive leadership behavior and subordinate behavior. There is significant negative correlation between negative leadership behavior and subordinate behavior.4. There is significant interaction between leadership style and superior-subordinate relationship, organization support and management levels on subordinate behavior.5. Subordinate behaviors affected performances significantly. Job perception and job satisfaction affected personal performance significantly. Continuous commitment and job satisfaction affected corporate performance significantly.
