An important topic within the academe both home and abroad is about the FDP problem. FDP particularity among all the other parties in bourgeois nations plays a decisive role in the multi-aspect study on FDP. Mr. Seizaburo Sato, a Japanese scholar, believes that the Japanese political system since 1955 has been a typical One Party Dominant System, and FDP is the most powerful and stable party in the world. With retrospection on the post-war politics in Japan, one of the most striking characteristics is the long-term sustainability of One Party Dominant System in FDP. In addition, the success on Japanese modernization was actually realized under FDP's leadership. Therefore, FDP One Party Dominant System is not only of great significance both in historical and realism point of view, but also provides certain theoretic value to the research on parties worldwide. The essay is composed of 3 paragraphs. The first para., according to the different phases of FDP One Party Dominant System development, divides the post-war politics in Japan into 4 historical stages, which are Establishment of One Party Dominant System, Consolidation of One Party Dominant System, Incorporation of One Party Dominant System, and Regression of One Party Dominant System. The second para, is the core of the whole essay, combining FDP political theory with Japanese traditional political culture and thoroughly analyzing root causes for the long-term sustainability of FDP One Party Dominant System on one hand, and on the other, revealing to the readers that FDP is actually a quite strong governing body through the analysis on the relationship between FDP and bureaucratic and financial groups. The third para, briefs on the insurmountable malpractice brought about to Japanese politics by this FDP One Party Dominant System, and claims that FDP has to carry out a thorough self-innovation.
