Context Of Economic Globalization, The Status Of The Chinese Manufacturing Center

In recent years, under the new situation of the economic globalization and China's joining WTO, many foreign news media headed by the Japanese Industrial and Economic News have continuously published articles, declaring that "In the aspect of manufacturing industry, China has already become the 'world factory". It draws a worldwide attention from the economic circle from home and abroad to the manufacturing industry of China. Then, how to judge the position of China as the "world factory"? Can China become the forth-manufacturing center of the world? This thesis launches a discussion on these issues.This thesis is divided into the following four parts:Part I: Formation and extinguishing features of the manufacturing center of the worldThe thesis mainly reviews the course of formation of the three existing manufacturing centers of the world, and summarizes the basic features of the global manufacturing centers during the period of industrialization. Part II: Theoretical support and real conditions for China to build up into the manufacturing center of the worldBased on the fundamental theory on industrialization of the western world, it mainly expounds the relation between industrialization and the manufacturing industry, and general rules on structural changes inside the industry. In the meanwhile, it analyzes the real conditions for China to build up into the manufacturing center of the world under the background of economic globalization.Part HI. Present situation, comparative advantages of the manufacturing industry of China and its difference from the developed countriesIt mainly analyzes the extraordinary advantages for China to vigorously develop the manufacturing industry, and reveals the remarkable difference between the manufacturing industry of China and that of the developed countries.Presently, the manufacturing industry of China has already become the"engine" to promote fast development of the national economy, and it has become the important force propelling the regulation of the industrial structure. Low cost of labor is the best comparative advantage for China to develop the manufacturing industry. Besides, continuous improvement of labor quality, rough elimination of the bottle neck barrier to infrastructure, great development of structural regulation of industrial products, broad domestic market demand and social and political stability of China have all provided the most favorable conditions for China to grow into the center of manufacturing industry of the world. However, there is still some major difference of the manufacturing industry of China from that of the developed countries.The output level of the manufacturing industry per capital in China is far behind that of the developed countries; the conflict between the institutional framework and low integration of industries is extruding; there is still major difference in the management level of the manufacturing industry; the talent drain and lack of vocational technical workers seriously affect the overall competitive power of the manufacturing industry of China. Part IV. Basic countermeasures for molding China into the center of manufacturing industry of the worldConcerning the guiding principle, we must correct our thinking to regard the manufacturing industry as the dusk industry; concerning the way of development, we must firmly insist on the way to combine the internationalization with the independent democracy; concerning the technical route, we must gradually transfer to the mode of self creation; concerning the industrial structural regulation, we must adopt the multi-layer propelling strategy; concerning the market opening-up, we must stick to the parallel emphasis of the domestic market and the international market; concerning the regional layout of the manufacturing industry, we must form the regional manufacturing industry with special features; and concerning the development of capable persons, we must form the regional manufacturing industry.
