According to the history and present situations, banking system is always an important member of the financial system and plays an unconvincing role in the financial system. But there is a voice both from the practice and theory, the edge of the bank were always in hot debate, some theorists suspected the inevitability of the bank's existence. A system can remain in existence and keep its youth only by way of exchanging with outside systems, and keeps pace with the development of the outside environments. Being a system, the bank can only remain existence and develop through continuing adjustment.Those two or three decades is the era of the global financial liberalization, and also the era of the overwhelming development of banks. Most countries treat financial liberalization as an unavoidable "GAME" which must be played. But financial liberalization not only brought the advantages, but also changed the living environments of the banks. Financial liberalization brought the pressure of institutional change of banks and the impetus of innovation of banks. How to make adjustment became the essential problem that the banks were greatly concerned. This thesis will focus on the institutional changes of banks in the era of financial liberalization from the 1970s, analyzing the institutional changes of banks with the theory of New-Institution Economics, investigating the institutional changes of banks in several typical countries throughout the era of financial liberalization. Then analyzes the bank reform and the development of banks of China.
