As the supreme authority for Olympic Movement, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is an international non-governmental non-profit organization, which is in the form of an association with the status of a legal person of unlimited duration, recognized by the Swiss Federal Council, as well as with status of subject of international law in certain respects. The organization structure of Olympic Movement principally includes the IOC, International Federations (IFs) and National Olympic Committees (NOCs), among which, IOC is the head, IFs provide technical assistance and the NOCs are the basic units to carry out any related activity. Any dispute arising on the occasion of, or in connection with, the Olympic Games shall be submitted exclusively to the Court of Arbitration for Sport established by the IOC. Members of the IOC are recruited and elected by IOC other than by various countries so as to ensure the independence of IOC for leadership of the Olympic Movement. The consistence between the goal of Olympism to promote peace and to oppose discrimination and United Nations (UN) Charter is the favorable foundation for the cooperation between IOC and UN. Although there is complex interactive relationship between the Olympic Movement and politics or various counties, the IOC shall endeavor to maintain politically neutral and to promote the development of Olympic Movement and world peace.
