| During the new historical period after the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, Deng Xiaoping further developed Marxism theory of united front from perspective of history and present time. The theory of united front is a profound illustration of the scientific theory as well as a faithful description of the experience of practice and research. The use of new method and the new perspective strengthen the truthfulness and convincing power of the theory itself. Taking this point as the focus, this article tries to find out how this theory provides the useful advice for the socialist overall development by using the scientific method, renewing the way of thinking, taking stock of situation and making the right decision.The logic starting point of Deng Xiaoping United Front theory of the present time is history and reality. Under the new historical situation, the conditions of classes in China have changed, the working emphasis of the party and state has been shifted, peace and development has become the theme of the new era, and the worldwide science and technology revolution is booming. Facing all these, Deng Xiaoping further developed the United Front theory by generalizing the experience and lessons of the practical work on the relevant theoretical bases of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Mao Zedong.The scientific method is the great tool for developing Deng Xiaoping United Front theory, To be realistic and truthful is his primary approach and theoretical weapon which lays a solid foundation for developing the theory as well as setting things right in the field of the united front. He treated predecessors with the realistic attitude, set up the United Front theoretical system, which centres in the economy construction from the perspective of history and development. With regard to the ameness and ifference of the united front entity, Deng Xiaoping adopted the approach of contradiction analysis, grasping the unity in the opposites in order to seek a new way for developing the united front in the new historical period. He grasped the principal contradiction and set the new task of the united front. He proposed the new policy for intellectuals according to the current situation, giving concrete analysis to the concrete conditions. By using the method of systemizing from the perspective of the wholeness, he put all the problems under the historical background, starting from the wholeness of the system, made every resolution related to each other and interacted to each other, thus bettered the function of the united front. The scientific method helped him to find the key for developing the theory to observe and analyse the problems objectively and wholly.The characteristic of Deng Xiaoping way of thinking is various perspectives. Starting from the theme of the time, which were peace and development, and the inner requirement of the development of China, he cast off the yoke of the traditional way of thinking and proposed the one country, two systems principle. He reconstructed the content of the united front with an open mind, forming theidea of united front in a three-dimension and multilevel way. His lateral thinking took the trend and characteristic of the world development into account; and his vertical thinking took the development of China and the united front itself into account. These enabled him to grasp the pulse of the time and resolved the new problems of the united front under the new historical condition. He enhanced the sameness, and paid attention to the differences; he insisted the principle, and he was also flexible. His dialectical way of thinking enlivened the united front of the new period.Deng Xiaoping development of the united front theory offers important guidance for the development of the united front.
