The dissertation takes the biographies and those recorded in New and Old Tangshu who had passed the imperial examinations as the main object of the research, using the magnitude statistical method, and studies the relation of the imperial examinations of Dynasty Tang and the political persons' development with ability. Furthermore, it also pursues what's the relation of the former and the education in macroscopic. In archaic society of China, being an official was treated as a person's only proper way and the aspect of his development. The elite wanted to study hard so as to become political persons with ability and enter the ruling class. Under the influence of such a social mentality, the political persons with ability had a rather higher position. On the whole, the persons with ability written in New and Old Tangshu belonged to political ones, so the research places the emphasis on the relation of the political persons with ability and the imperial examinations. The research finds out that, since the imperial examination had been invented, it gradually became the most important political mechanism that was used in the national selecting the persons with ability. With the time passing by, the proportion of the middle and high officials rose up little by little in the different periods of the early, metaphase and later Dynasty Tang. What's more, the function of the imperial examination got more and more important during the course of choosing the middle and high officials, the reason of which lied in the fact not only that, contrasting to the former mechanism of the persons of ability, the way of the imperial examination had its advance, but also that it had great importance with the education toward the persons with ability. As a certain fact, the persons with ability that were cultivated hi the guide of the imperial examination fitted for the criteria of the political ones in those days.Instead, the region demarcation of the Dynasty Tang's persons with ability was much more unbalanced, which was influenced by the political, economical and educational factors. During the primary Dynasty Tang, the political factor was obvious and it didn't decrease a little until in the medium-term and later Dynasty Tang with the economical factor became more and more evident. As a matter of fact, whether the political factor or the economical factor, the cultivating of the persons with ability couldn't go on without education, and in such precondition, the political and economical factors could had its own restrict to the region demarcation of the persons with ability.A person's whether passing an imperial examination or not would have great thing to do with the whole family or the household's development as well as an individual's pullulation and development. Therefore, the families of archaic China (in this dissertation, it refers to Dynasty Tang.) placed enough emphasis on the mechanism of the imperial examinations, which was embodied from that, if the family members had the qualification or the hope of passing the imperial examinations, they should take effective advise and education. Meanwhile, in the precondition of the imperial examinations' affecting the whole life of society, the family education also impelled the development of the imperial examinations.
