Knowledge Management And The Performance Of New Product Development

With the coming of knowledge economy, what competitions enterprises face are not only finance capital and material. Managing knowledge resource to product innovation has become the key factor of enterprise creating value and gaining predominance in competition. Therefore, it is a useful and practical task to study how to implement knowledge management to assure the efficiency and success of New Product Development (NPD).Based on the summary of literature, the thesis adopt the method of combining theory studying with demonstration analysis, and probe into the relationship between knowledge management factors and NPD performance.The thesis analyzes knowledge characteristic in NPD, discusses the process of knowledge activity, and designs the model of knowledge management merged in NPD by using IDEFO. Moreover, through questionnaire survey and interview staff in part of Shenzhen enterprises, the thesis study the relationship among knowledge management and NPD Performance.The main conclusion draw from this study are as below:1. New Product Development is an activity required sigifcant amount of knowledge. NPD can be decribed as the process of knowledge dynamic activity.2. Knowledge Mangement of NPD includes knowledge activity control and mechanism, which influence NPD performance.3. The suggestion of implementing Knowledge management in NPD are as below: ㏑einforce the control of knowledge activity such as the ability of knowledge application,enhance training and communication. (2) Strengthen mechanism of knowledge activity such as building knowledge repository, Information System, mechanism of knowledge prompting and knowledge management team.The innovation points of the thesis are: Combining the business flow to study its knowledge requirement and knowledge management factor; exploring the correlation of knowledge management factosr and NPD performance and emphasizing some points noticed in knowledge management practice in NPD. The result of thesis provides the basis reference of knowledge management study and practice in NPD.
