Since the German logician Gottlob Frege introduced logics at the end of the 19th century, the presupposition theory has become an indispensable part of logics. The study of the presupposition theory not only promotes the solution to the theoretical problems in natural logic, but also enhances people's ability to comprehend and use language and theire logic thinking. Based on the finding that there exist similarities between presupposition and interrogtive language, the author proves it necessary to apply the presupposition theory to Interrogation in every stage. Although it had been given more and more importance to the language of Interrogation in practice, we still can not pay attention to the common phenomena of presupposition in interrogation. Based on the general study of the presupposition theory, the author point out that presupposition is inherent in Interrogation which is conducted in the form of answering questions, and that this inherent presupposition has not drawn due attention up to now.The paper consists of five parts.Introduction:This paper is intended to discuss the application of presupposition to and its function in Interrogation. The author think the first thing that need be confirmed is the same background between the both side of communicators. It is precondition that make the communication to be realizaiton and it is inevitably related to the presupposition. If we apply the presupposition to the language of Interrogation we can make certain or exclude the suspect and verify the evidence and obtain more clues etc. Whether or not the precondition be used in interrogation accurately that is realted to the finally successful and the efficiency. Actually, it will be a high efficience when the interrogator take a appropriate measure apply the presupposion into interrogation.Part I The Basic Concepts of the Presupposition TheoryThis part deals with the previous study, the connotation of presupposition, and its similarity and difference from implication and assertion. At the end of this part, further exploration is made into the features and truth value of presupposition. The author point out that the same sentence of presupposition between communicators imply the information within the sentence and that isprecondition of the sentence to be comprehensible and significative.Part II Types of PresuppositionIn this part, the author classifies and analyses three types of presupposition, semantic and pragmatic presuppositions, factual and theoretical presuppositions, affirmtive, interrogative and imperative presuppositions.Part III Approach and Significance of Analysed PresuppositionThis part provids the conditions to make analysed presupposition appropriate, stressing the significance of presupposition to distinguish logical fallacy, obtain more linguistic information, and have more effective verbal communication.Part IV Application of Presupposition Theory to InterrogationAccording to the problems and requirements the Interrogation faces, the author analyses the inherent relevancy of presupposition to Interrogation, the application of presupposition theory to and its function in Interrogation, with a touch upon its limitation.ConclusionA good knowledge of the presupposition theory enables the interrogator to make the most appropriate strategies of Interrogation, improve both the quality and efficiency of Interrogation and avoid possible negligence.
