Transnational corporations (TNCs) are playing important roles in the world economics, so their locations influence not only the development of countries' industries, but also the industrial spatial structures in the whole world. The latest location theories of TNCs' direct investment shows that the advantages of locations influence the competitive advantages of enterprises and industries greatly, which makes it as an important decisive factor to absorb TNCs' direct investment. The automobile industry will be one of Chinese mainstay industries in a long future time, and each domestic region is competing hotly to develop the automobile industry. And undoubtedly, the entry of the automobile TNCs is one of the most important variables of the development and the spatial structure of China's automobile industry. So it is an emergent problem how to strengthen regions competitiveness to absorb more TNCs' investment and how to help enterprises develop the global competitiveness.Considering the above, this thesis focuses on the automobile industry, and explains the connotation of the location competitive advantage of the automobile industry in the economic globalization time. Then it analyses TNCs' effects on China's location competitive advantages of the automobile industry. And last, it discusses how to establish the location competitive advantages in the country lay and region lay. First, location plays an important role in the development of enterprises and industries. By the study of location specific advantage of Eclectic Theory of International Production, the thesis points out that it can't explain TNCs' location choice in the new background. So the thesis abstracts a new concept, location competitive advantages, from the competitiveness theory and cluster theory, definites its connotation and explains its effects on the enterprise and industrial competitive advantage.Second, the thesis analyses the characteristics of the automobile industry and famous automobile city in the world, and establishes the main content of location competitive advantage of the automobile industry. Further, it studies the characteristics of the development of the automobile clusters and TNCs' industry shift in the whole world, and summarizes TNCs' strong directional characteristics to location competitive advantage. Therefore, the thesis gains the main factors of the location competitive advantage of the automobile industry which provides the theory and practical basis to establish the location competitive advantage of China's automobile industry. Third, China has to establish its own location competitive advantage, because of the globalization of the automobile industry and the drastic international competition to absorb the automobile TNCs' investment. But China's location competitive advantage of the automobile industry is made up of that of regions, so it is a right way to establish the country's location competitive advantage by establishing the regions'. The thesis finds several potential agglomeration districts by studying the spatial structure. The factors of government and TNC are very important variables of China's location competitive advantage of the automobile industry during the developing process of the location competitive advantage of the main agglomeration districts. And it proposes the foundational principles and approaches.Last, the thesis chooses Changchun to do the empirical research, studying how to establish Changchun's location competitive advantage of the automobile industry.Through the study, the thesis draws following conclusions: location is helpful to cultivate and increase the competitive advantage of enterprises and industries in the economic globalization time; market and demand are the two important factors of location competitive advantage of the automobile industry; it is an emergent problem to establish China's location competitive advantage of the automobile industry as soon as possible; TNCs' direct investment and government are the important powers to i...
