On The Euro Area Banking Sector The Almighty Strategy And Inspiration

With the advent of euro, the financial system of Euroland has been greatly transformed and the banking industry of Euroland grows universal as well. Starting from this spectacular phenomenon, this thesis takes the traditional financial medium theory, the information medium theory, the functional medium theory and the financial function theory as a theoretical background to support that the long life span of a bank lies in its special form and value, and the banking industry is to transform from commercial to universal with the securitization trend. Relating theories to practices, this thesis in turn studies the strategies of universal banking on the Euroland from both macro and micro levels. It firstly points out that the unification and structural changes of Euro financial system creates macro financial conditions for the implementation of the universal strategies, further generalizes the concrete information into a set of main practical strategies from a micro financial view and then gives an overall evaluation. The enlightenment gained from this research is that the transformation of the banking industry has its own principle to pursue, is constraint by the macro financial conditions and needs support of micro financial strategies. From a broader view of financial globalization, this thesis finally turns to China's banking industry, seeking solutions for the development of its own universal banks. For this purpose, it analyses the status quo of China's current banking industry, concluding that China should catalyze its financial system, build up proper system for universal banking, as well as design and implement short-term and long-term strategies to move the development of universal banking in China.
