Turkey To Join The Eu

The issue that whether Turkey would be a formal member of the European Union has great influence on international geopolitical structure, on the development of EU, and on the relations between Islamic countries and the West. Therefore, it is a topic with practical significance. The application process of Turkey is slow compared with applicants' process. There has been more than 45 years from Turkey's first applying membership. It seems that there will be several years more for Turkey joining the EU, and that there will be much uncertainties. The thesis contains seven parts:1 A brief review on history of Turkey's application process;2 Dynamics of Turkey's application;3 Advantages and challenges to EU caused by Turkey's accession;4 Development of Turkey's accession to EU;5 An analysis of obstacles of Turkey's accession;6 Prospect of Turkey's accession negotiation;7 The conclusion is that the accession process will last long with many uncertainties.
