This paper aims to systematically review and summarize Marxist ideological theory, striving to construct a theoretical framework for reflections and analyses in order to recognize and understand Marxist ideological theory, and it elucidates the actual significances of socialist ideological construction by combining Marx's ideological theory with the construction of China's socialist modernization. Thus, in the process of the study, the preface offers a brief explanation of the structure of the thesis and the approaches to the analyses; Chapter One traces back to the historical process of the introduction of ideological concept to the western philosophical field of vision, and briefly introduces and analyzes some influential ideological theories, which function as a logical starting point and an important content for the study of Marx's ideological theory; Chapter Two, by the historical investigation of Marx's theory and socially political practice, makes a historical division of the formation and development of Marx's ideological theory, and gives an detailed explanation of its connotation; Chapter Three summarizes modern China's socialist ideological thoughts, which focuses on the introduction of Mao Tse-Tung-led, Deng Xiaoping-led and Jiang Zeming-led ideological thoughts; Chapter Four elucidates the challenges that China has to face in her ideological construction under the influences of the globalization, and assesses the implications of the socialist ideology in the course of the modernization.
