Nowadays the competition in the world has surpassed the competition among countries and turned to that among cities.The central city of a region is the centralize of economy in the region.It will play an important role during leading the development of the local economy.The city of Zhengzhou is just the central city in the middle area of our country.During the new period that the economy of city is increasing rapiddly,it is important to study the economy of Zhengzhou.In the preface,we show the general idea of the certral city of a region. And we also use some theoriesof it,the most important of which is the theory of "the pole of growth".Looking back the process of the development of Zhengzhou,this city had planned to build the commercial central city in the 80th of the century of twenty. Surrounding this target,it built a number of markets to do wholesale and retail sale. After that,Zhengzhou entred into the stage of building the group of cities in the middle area.Zhengzhou is the centre of the group,which includes the city of Luoyang,Kaifeng,Xinxiang,Jiaozuo,Xuchang,Pingdingshan,Luohe,Jiyuan.As we all known,there are some problems during the course of development.The first is the scale of the city of Zhengzhou is small,which will do bad to its action of radiate and pull the economy development.The second is the main industry is still not made.The third is the level of city is low.The last is the level of the basis facilities falls behind.At last,we give some suggestions to build and develop this central city. Firstly,Zhengzhou should enlarge the scale of its city.It should build a main centre and a secondary centre,and they should develop jointly. Secondly,Zhengzhou should play its action of a centre and cooperate coordinately with other cities in that group of city.The industry could be cultivated and grew in a group,which could decrease their capital and increase their efficiency. Thirdly,Zhengzhou should adjust its industry structure and made it get with the development of economy. In the meanwhile, the city must make its main industry.Forthly,the city should pay attention to connotative develop,which could improve the function of the city.The last but not the least is our city should accelerate the build of basis facilities.The key problem is lacking of money,so we should take some possible measues to raise funds to build basis facilities of our city.
