The Taiwan issue is the core in Sino-U.S. relations. US support for Taiwan is the most important obstacle to China's reunification. Weapon sale is the most important means. U.S.-Taiwan military relations have enormously impact on the Sino-U.S. relations and cross-strait relations. After coming into power, Lee Deng-hui carried out the Taiwan independence route, which making some trouble between the Sino-U.S. relations and both sides of the Taiwan Strait. When the independent is surging, the research on the military relations will be beneficial to correctly deal with Sino-U.S. relations and cross-strait relations, will be advantageous to China's union.In the Cold War, The United States allied with Taiwan. Taiwan accepted the military asylum of American, The United States Obtained some benefit from Taiwan. According to"broking diplomatic relation, abolishing the treaty and withdrawing troops", The United States abolished the U.S.-Taiwan military alliance. As soon as the Sino-U.S. relations were established,"with Taiwan Relations Law"was passed in American Congress. President Carter signed the law in April 10, 1979. The United States continued to sell the weapon and maintain all kinds of military relations. After the cold war, China was unimportant because the United States adjusted its global strategy. Taiwan was so important that the U.S.-Taiwan relations were restored. In addition, other important impetus are the economic interests, US Congress, the American domestic politics, the cold war thoughts, Taiwan's solicit and so on. The United States sustains Taiwan by means of weapon sale, transferring the military technology, the information cooperation, training military personnel and so on. In the post-cold war U.S.-Taiwan relations are three stages: comprehensive promotion stage, new framework established of military cooperation and paramilitary alliance. At present, the U.S.-Taiwan military relations have some characteristics which weapon sale is the core, the military software cooperation is deepening day by day and the military personnel intercourse is moving openly and standardized. The U.S.-Taiwan military relations are inclined to"the paramilitary alliance". The Sino-U.S. relations and cross-strait relations were influenced by the U.S.-Taiwan military relations, which weakened the mainland's advantage over Taiwan, stimulating the independent member of Taiwan; which weakened the strategic foundation between China and America; which being the negative precedent for other nations.In the future, the U.S. - Taiwan military relations would continue deteriorating,...
