Nowadays, globalization tends to become more and more intensified, which exerts profound influence on states and people's daily life. The expansion of the WTO is a manifestation of such globalization. The WTO, established on basis of a unified world market, not only brings about economic globalization, but also urges mutual reference and mutual amalgamation among different legal systems. As one of the salient manifestations of economic and legal assimilation and amalgamation, private participation in the WTO system, particularly in the WTO dispute settlement mechanism (DSM), is gradually drawing people's attention. This thesis, with private participation in the WTO DSM as its object, aims to clarify the origination of this issue, define certain concepts and analyze its possible influences on the WTO system. In addition, this thesis expounds, based on relevant legal provisions and cases and combined with the basic theories of international law, the necessity of introducing private participation mechanism into the WTO DSM. This thesis further predicts the future orientation of the private participation and, based on it, put forward an institutional framework on the integration and reform over the WTO DSM with private participation as the goals.Apart from the Preface and the Concluding Remarks, this thesis consists of six Chapters.Chapter One is about "the General Introduction". First, it introduces the origination of the issue of private participation in the WTO DSM. The issue has aroused people's attention with the expansion of the international law subject theory and of the scope of research on human rights. Next, it defines the basic concept of private participation in the WTO DSM, that is, the activity of private entities or private parties, in the capacity of plaintiff, defendant or interested third party, having material benefit to bring a lawsuit or present before the forum, hereby imposing substantial impact on resolution of the disputes.
